The following is a brief (i.e., not exhaustive) alphabetical list
of all the places of importance (ornithologically speaking) that we reckon
you should have visited before completely birding out the Gambia:
- Abuko National Park and the Lamin rice fields


- Bansang and Basse quarries



- Camalou corner, Katchakali, Bund road and the Woman’s co-operative
fields outside Banjul

- Janjangbureh (Georgetown), particularly the river ride around the islands

- Kartung sand mines and Gunjur coastal wetland
- Kiang West National Park particularly Bateling track & airfield

- Kotu creek, cycle path, sewage ponds and Fajara golf course

- Marakissa, woodlands, river and dried river pan

- Niokolo-Koba (around the Simenti Hotel)
- North Bank, Barra to Karang and Jinak (Niumi National Park)
- Pirang (shrimp farm and the revered 2,500 years old cotton
tree) and Faraba-banta bush track

- Tanji bird reserve (including Paradise Inn)

- Tendaba and Bao-Bolong (fresh water mangroves)

- Yundum (old by the airport) and Basara Woodland
